This year has been off to a great start so far. Hopefully everyone is keeping well. Lots to blog about and catch up with. First of all, I would like to share some of our recent travel experience. Just got back from a short visit in Playa Del Carmen and we had the chance to make it during BPM festival. Getting there was a major journey because of the weather, but we were lucky to have even made it. The Saturday night we were supposed to leave, our flight had been cancelled. So we grab our bags to go home for the night. Next morning we contacted Westjet and got put on a bus to Toronto for the next available flight to Cancun on Monday morning. Even though we missed out on a few days and nothing could change that, Westjet did pretty good to try and compensate by covering all the extra travel costs and accommodation. Lots of vouchers to used for food!!! :)
Our Monday flight was scheduled for 9am. We got there with plenty of time to relax and enjoy breakfast. However, the weather complications only continued from there. Flights were being delayed and cancelled all over the place and we started to get worried about a repeat of Saturday night. Thankfully, our plane only got delayed 4 hours, which at that point... didn't seem as long of a wait anymore. With loads of time to burn at Pearson, we find many simple things to keep ourselves entertained.
After lots of play, walking around, people watching and drawing in my sketch book, we finally boarded our flight. Super tired from the travel and a bit intimidated by seeing the runway covered with ice..... but, there is no turning back. We had already been threw too much at that point. Up and away!!!
It was a rough flight, we couldn't have been more excited to get off the plane. Just another 45min shuttle ride from the airport and we were finally there!!! Weather wasn't the greatest though, it had been raining all week and temp was only 15... but! still much better than minus 30. From that point, our experiences certainly made up for the difficult trip. Soon as we got there and settled in. A good friend of mine told us about Dubfire and Richie Hawtin setting up to play a free party at a near by taco restaurant "El Fogon". Off we go! Grabbed a fruit smoothie along the way and we made it there just before they started to play. There must have been over 1000 people show up. Police were there to help direct traffic, which eventually led to closing off the road so the party could roll smooth. Perfect cap to a very long day of traveling. This concludes part 1. Thank You for reading! I have video from that party and will post very soon. In the process of editing and learning a new program for doing so. Stay tuned!
