Spring is in the air and summer on the way! Keeping busy with getting ready for another great festival season. Starting with .....Shock Stock!!!!! An expo dedicated to all things entertainingly macabre. It will be my first time attending and I'm really looking forward to hanging out there with Iglesias Crew, all painted up in grey scale with a bunch of other zombies to promote the latest show "Night of the Living Dead Live"!!!! Lots of awesome vendors with really cool merch, including my original poster Art for the show. Stacked line up of famous horror film Artists too! Check out the website for more info. Be sure to grab your tickets for Night of The Living Dead, while they're still available. http://www.grimbrothers.com/shockstock/ http://www.grandtheatre.com/index.php/mcmanus-theatre/rental-companies/night-of-the-living-dead-live/ Coming up right afterwards.... 3rd annual Children's Museum fundraising competition "The Brush Off". I'm happy to return for round 3 and have lots of great ideas in mind for working that canvas with speedy precision! Hoping to see lots of familiar faces in support of this great event that benefits so many youths by inspiring minds threw creative learning. There's not many opportunities to see such high caliber Artists working together in such a unique environment with amazing deals on the original works being created that evening. Here is a few snaps taken last year by my better half, Kim Doerr. Photo on the left is practice speed painting I did this year. Going thick this time Studio wise, a lot of works on the go that I'm really excited to finally exhibit. Def some of my most ambitious pieces yet. They've been taking forever and long over-due! Thanks for staying tuned.

Back to full force in the studio after a short visit in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. This time, I had an amazing oppourtunity to rock out in a Cenote with a really good Friend of mine. The two of us have been jamming together for years and always dreamed of playing in this type of setting..... So it was!!! Fishies and turtles gathered around and wasn't long before some amazing People that live within the beautiful Community called, Sacbe... also came down to have a listen, swim in the clear blue water and jam along too. Such a magical place! Hopefully the video sounds alright on other sides. Do keep in mind.... I'm far from a professional percussionist and the recording is raw. Just pure connection threw Music... Enjoy :) Playa is so full of amazing Art. From Mariachis to murals. It's an extremely inspirational place to be for any creative mind state. Had a chance to do some quick sketching too, while roasting in the beautiful heat...... summer is soon on it's way!!!!!! :)
Get ready London!!!!!!! Iglesia Productions Crew is bringing to You......
NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD LIVE!!!!!!!!!! Tickets are now available and selling fast. Super busy in the studio at the moment! So much on the go at once and it's often hard to keep track. It's all Love and a positive attention soaker though. Being totally absorbed into work is where I think most Artists thrive. Just need a periodic break from urban landscape.
The sun was out, lake is frozen.. what other reason do you need for heading to the beach? Always such a cool feeling to get on the ice and appreciate the space. Momma Nature is the most amazing Artist there is. I try to do some justice threw the lens eye. Back at it again! Making more Theatrical magic happen with the Iglesia's Production Crew. For the latest coming live masterpiece..... Night of the Living Dead!!!!
Last night was the first reading with all the new cast together. I sat and listened while lightly sketching away and laughs were plenty already! Lots of fresh new faces and much amazing original talent returning from previous shows, as well. Bringing that energy each performance is praised for. Be ready for zombies to rule the night London.... It's gonna get messy! I always feel very fortunate to live near such beautiful Natural landscape within the city. With plenty of deer running around and I'm always awestruck every time I see one. Anyway! Our puppies so happen to Love chewing on the antlers, but they are crazy expensive to buy.... yet, found in Nature for free with a little persistence and adventure.
Final outcome was realizing that with the leaves, if any were there... most likely covered. So we wait and try again later in the season!!! At the same time, finally had the chance to bring a broom and pan to clean up some of the glass that's been smashed by some very very nice people...... How is it that, we trust people drinking to responsibly dispose of a glass container? Whole other topic though. Kim and I picked up probably at least a 6 pack worth in various spots along our travel. If not us, than who? If not now, then when? We're all ripples in the water of Life. On another note, I look forward to blogging and sharing my thoughts threw my website more. This is my mission as I am moving towards detaching from facebook. As of the beginning of the New Year. Although it's not an easy decision because it's been a great tool for promotion and expression, connection..... even disconnection and beyond I hope everyone still continues with me on this crazy Journey we call Life. Just in a more direct manner, bring it back to roots! Pick up the damn phone once n a while (yes, we still rock exclusively a home phone). One of the main reasons though and I'm not sure how many know, or even care? But facebook is changing their policies once again to a very disturbing tone. I suggest anyone interested does some research into how our privacy is to be eroded even further by exploiting our need to be connected with others. Now, Connection is what its all about and I fully endorse digital social media, just not the direction this particular site is going. As well, my Artist page.... I can't even get my work out to you guys without having to pay to promote!!! Which I'm all for, if truly worthwhile, but.... facebook started free and should always be. Then again.... nothing truly is and always has to come with some cost. I'm just not selling my personal information to any malicious cause. Peace, Love and Unity Everyone!!!!!! :) This time of year, I take great honour in producing Art for people as one of a kind gifts that could never come from a store, all by personal design.
When you look at everything in our World that truly means something and stands the test of time (if taken care of properly)...... its ART!!!!!! Yet, trying to convey the value of this realization, when compared to the regular expenditures people make is often difficult for some reason. I think it comes down to conditioning, for the most part. We are told that these "things" we consume, which cost us a lot of money and often don't last more than a few years, are somehow important and worthy of such high costs. Yet.... they aren't! For the price of a couple monthly cell phone bills, you could have a personally tailored piece of Artwork that will mean much more than any dollar value proposed. Most Artist's put their Heart and Soul into every work they make and could never expect what it's truly worth in return. Anyway! All I ask is that we start to shift our realizations towards whats truly valuable in our World again. I'll always be proud to contribute something meaningful from my Soul, it's all I have to give and your support means everything. Much Love Everyone! This painting below is done freehand, exclusively with airbrush. No stencils for me!!!!! I like the challenge :) Kim and I originally made these costumes a few years ago, but thought they never got enough Love the first go around. So! we spiced them up some more and with balloons in hand and I headed out into the night.
Quite the challenge to airbrush on my beard, but I think it turned out alright in the end, after a bit of frustration. Realized something about having long hair too...... I will NEVER tease it again! Although it looked rough n rugged, that was exactly how it felt trying to get it untangled. Lots of people wanted to be near us while we were at the club... and by that I mean, we pretty much had our own dancing space the entire time. Didn't enter or win any contests, but that was not our plan or expectation to begin with. The many compliments were appreciated and being the cause of fear in a few was exactly what we we're hoping to inspire. Especially with the majority of costumes we saw being either something sexy or authoritarian. Someone must keep the season Spoooooky! Gotta Love Halloween, already looking forward to next year. |
