Yesterday, I had the oppourtunity for doing live puppy caricatures at Pawlooza Fest, along side of Tiny Paws Dog Rescue Canada. What a great event!!!! I absolutely Love getting the chance to see so many beautiful breeds of dogs, all together in one location. So many I wish to have gotten pics of, but we didn't take many photos because of being so busy with trying to keep up to the crowds.
The start of day was moving along great! It filled up with people so fast, which brought some minor challenges for finding workable space I wouldn't be crowded in. After choosing a great spot in the corner to set up. From there, Kim and I had a blast chatting with so many people about Art, Dogs and future festivals to possibly attend. At the same time.... there was building chatter of rain and the over-head grey kept looming in. Very bad news for us because Kim and I were not prepared at all for keeping dry. Lesson learned for next time though and as the rumors became true, drops began to fall onto my drawing pad...... just after I had started a new portrait too! So, we scrambled to get the paintings into a dry space. Then I awkwardly squeezed into one of the already packed booths, sat on the grass and started sketching away. I was very thankful for the temporary space to finish that last portrait, but now it was time to make a decision. Unless the shower was going to stop, there was nothing else I could do to continue, so we reluctantly started moving our stuff back to the car and held onto hope that it would cease. Walked around a bit after packing up and sure enough...... it pretty much stopped!!! That got us wondering if maybe we.. could?........ nope! Right after that thought, the rain started falling again. So we had to say our good-bye's. Guess it's typical weather for Pawlooza though and we did get to enjoy most of the day. Plus our own puppies were ecstatic that we came home a bit early, so all was good :) Much thanks to everyone I had the pleasure of speaking with and for the huge amount of positive vibes towards my Art!!! Especially, a massive thanks goes out most of all to, Linda Collier and the entire Tiny paws Dog rescue crew for having me come out and contribute towards their great cause of saving furry companions. I def look forward to rocking live caricatures at many more. Hope to see you there. Much Love Shane&Kim
